If your spine is inflexibly stiff at 30, you are old. If at 60 it is completely flexible then you are young. According to Joseph Pilates Protégé Romana Kryzanowska, “Uncle Joe” used to say you are as old as your spine. To this end he developed a series of barrels to help the client stretch, support and move the spine in all the ways needed. The largest of these was the ladder barrel.
